We have hundreds of books, articles and videos in our library that are available for check out by members of the community.

On grief and loss

  • Books and videos for adults. We have more than 130 titles. Books include: Life Without Lisa by Richard Ballo; Living with Grief: Alzheimer's Disease edited by Kenneth Doka; and When a Man Faces Grief/A Man You Know Is Grieving by James Miller and Thomas Golden. Videos include Grown-Up Tears: Adults Grieving the Death of a Parent and Someone You Love is Dying: How do you Cope?
  • Books to help children with loss. We have more than 30 titles, including How it Feels When a Parent Dies by Jill Krementz and Our Dad Died: The True Story of Three Kids Whose Lives Changed, as told by Amy, Allie, and David Dennison. Our videos include: Saying Goodbye: Teens Sharing Their Stories of Grief and Loss and Living with Grief: Children, Adolescents, and Loss.
  • Picture books for children. We have more than 50 titles, including Annie & The Old One by Miska Miles; Badger's Parting Gifts by Susan Varley; and Grandad Bill's Song by Jane Yolen.
  • Young-adult chapter books (fiction). Older children can often relate to fictional characters who share similar losses. Among our titles are What is Goodbye? by Nikki Grimes and Falling Through Darkness by Carolyn MacCullough.
