Health Care Reform: The impact on hospice: Now that the U.S. has passed a health care reform act, what is the financial impact on hospice? The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization discusses the details. Blog writer Angela Morrow, R.N., who writes regularly about palliative care, also looks at 10 ways that the act has an effect on hospices and whether the impact of each is positive, negative, or neutral.

Governor signs new state law allowing families to make decisions for those who are incapacitated: The Family Health Care Decisions Act (FHCDA) became law in March. The new law determines which family members would make decisons for those who have not prepared advance directives regarding their wishes if they were incapiciated. Read more. Memorial Quilt Stitched with Affection: When Elma Canfield died, her friends and family came together to make a quilt in her honor. Elma, a master sewing leader in the 4-H program, inspired young people and adults to be the best sewers and people they could be.
