Who We Are
Our goal is to help people live their final months as fully and peacefully as possible. High quality healthcare is important at every stage of life and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside those who are facing terminal illness, coping with grief, or seeking to learn more about these profound experiences.
Hospicare and Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County, a community resource since 1983, provides hospice care for people of any age with any terminal diagnosis. Additionally, our palliative care service specializes in relief of pain, symptoms, and stress at any point in an illness.
Hospicare and Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County is a registered 501(c)3 organization.
- A team approach. Our medical director, nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers work together to meet the needs of each patient and family. We work in conjunction with your doctor and others providing care.
- An affordable option. Hospice costs are covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, and managed care organizations. Sliding-scale fees are also available. No one is ever turned away for inability to pay.
- Care in the setting that is best for you. This may be a private home, hospital, or nursing home. We also have a six-bed residence in the Town of Ithaca.
- Support for those who are grieving. Our staff and volunteers work with family members of all ages after the death of a loved one. We provide counseling services, educational programs, and support groups to anyone in the community.
There is no clearer example of compassion in my mind than the relationship between families and the Hospicare staff and volunteers. They give a gift – by accompanying families and their loved ones – to transform what may feel like a harrowing end into a hallowed transition." - Rev. Tim Dean, chaplain, Cayuga Medical Center
